St. Joan of Arc
Born 1412-Died 1431
During 1412, in the small French village of
Domemy, Jeanne d' Arc was born. Joan of
Arc was a gentle young girl who prayed very
often and helped others. She was indeed,
very spiritual, young girl and spent many hours in
prayer. She also spend time helping others and those
is need. Joan of Arc began to hear "voices" when she
was about 13 years old. She believed that these
voices carried messages from God to her. By the time
she was 17 years old, her belief was that God wanted
her to find the true king of France and help him to
claim his throne. This was during the times of the
Hundred Years war Joan was able to predict the
happenings during the war and identify the King
when he was in disguise.
Joan became a leader during the Hundred
Years war and led the army to victories carrying the
banner that's stated "Jesus, Maria,"  During the battle
for Compiegne, Joan was captured and was sold to the
English who surrendered her to the Bishop of Beauvis.
Joan was put on trial in Rouen and she was
asked questions that caused her to give answers that
proved to be against her will. She refused to retract
the answers that expressed her beliefs. visions and
voices Joan was judged by her statements as a
heretic and was condemned to death by being
burned at the stake. Joan was later cleared of her
crimes and was much later canonized in 1920.
