Millions have turned to St. Jude for assistance when all else fails. As the Patron of Desperate Causes, it is St, Jude who will intercede on your behalf when you cannot find an answer and all hope seems lost. A close relative of Jesus, probably a cousin, and apostle to Jesus Christ. St. Jude traveled throughout Mesopotamia and Syria, preaching the gospel with St. Simon. It was during his travels that St. Jude is said to have cure the king of Edessa from leprosy in the name of Jesus. Later artists used the symbol of an image of Jesus around St Jude's neck to refer to this story. Another image associated with St. Jude is that of the flame above his head. Since Jude ws an apostle, he was one of those gathered in the locked room with the other disciples when they received the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire. St. Jude, along with St. Simon, is said to have been martyred in Armenia. His relics are now honored in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Evidence of this saint's powerful intercession can be found daily in the ads of local papers and on the internet. Many people attribute the relief they have found to the assistance of the Patron of Desperate Causes.
