Le livre raconte une histoire sur le thème de Noël, écrite en rimes, qui explique comment le Père Noël sait qui est méchant et qui est gentil. Il décrit des elfes rendant visite aux enfants entre Thanksgiving et le réveillon de Noël, après quoi ils retournent au pôle Nord jusqu'aux prochaines fêtes de fin d'année.
